Occupation: Retired Forester
Marital Status: Married No. of Children: 4 Spouse Name (GPHS Class): Jean Number of Grandchildren: 9 Contact Status: Registered (4/26/07) Family Information (Great-Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Pets, Etc.): We have 3 children, 2 girls and a boy, and an adopted son, Yosef, who is from Ethiopia. All are married, live close by, and between them we currently have 9 grandchildren. I'm told I now have a slight southern twang to my speech. Life is good. We've owned a number of outdoor pets over the years, but now we just keep it to a dozen chickens to keep the fam in fresh eggs. Comments: Graduated with ya'll in '61. Got a swimming 'scholarship' to Eastern Illinois University. Graduated there in 1965 (Spanish, botany), married my wife, Jean (best and luckiest decision I ever made!) the day after graduation. Graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1967 with MS in forestry. Went to work in Knoxville, TN, for the Tennessee Valley Authority where I retired in 1997. I've been back to Grosse Pointe while my parents lived there and was always shocked and disappointed at all the development going on. Fields where I played and caught snakes and frogs are now expensive homes. I can't even go in to the park (GPS) where I used to be a life guard and go fishing. The mansions on Lake Shore are no more. The old Micheaux farm on Vernier Road where I always bought some pansies in the spring for my mother, and fed the rabbits grass through their wire cages is now a small subdivision. Mr. Micheaux used to plow his fields with horses! Lombardy's Pizza is gone! Vernier School is gone (I do have pictures of the old school). Oh well, all these are great memories now. I think we were all lucky teens, living in the best of times, in a wonderful place. Thanks to Karen Allport (who called me on the phone) and anyone who had anything to do with this website. It's excellent! |

Love the city (and the Steelers). Small town atmosphere with all the big city attractions. Law firm now has 1,200 lawyers; adding another 250 in London effective 1/1/07. Was into old cars (1930's British Classics [Rolls Royce, etc.]), now into bird hunting and double barreled (mostly side by side) shotguns. |
